About the hair removal centres with online booking

At a hair removal centre you remove hair from one or more areas with the technique that suits you, whether hot or warm wax for a result that lasts three to four weeks, or laser and IPL to reduce it for good over several sessions. Many centres also treat men (back, chest, brows) and work by area, so you book exactly what you need.

What people book most is full or half legs, underarms, bikini in its different versions, lip and brows with wax, and laser sessions on underarms, bikini or legs. If you are having several areas done on the same day, pick them all when booking so the time is held for you in one go.

Times are short and fairly predictable. Lip or brows, about ten minutes. Underarms, a quarter of an hour. Half legs, half an hour. Full legs with bikini, close to an hour. A laser session on a small area takes fifteen to thirty minutes, and sessions are usually four to eight weeks apart.

Before a wax, let the hair grow to at least half a centimetre and skip exfoliating that day. For laser, shave the area the day before, arrive with no fake tan and no sun exposure in the previous fortnight. If you take photosensitising medication or are pregnant, tell the centre before booking. Afterwards, avoid heat, swimming pools and direct sun for 24 hours.

Frequently asked questions

How long does hair need to be for waxing?

At least half a centimetre, which is usually ten to fifteen days after your last shave. Any shorter and the wax will not grip it properly, so it needs going over again. If it is very long, the centre trims it before starting.

Do I book each area separately or all together?

Each area is a service with its own duration and price, but you can pick several in the same booking, and the centre holds the time back to back and treats you in one visit.

How do I prepare for a laser session?

Shave the area the day before (no waxing or tweezing in the previous weeks), avoid sun and fake tan for the two weeks beforehand, and arrive with clean skin, no creams or deodorant. If you take photosensitising medication or antibiotics, tell the centre.

Does laser work on every skin and hair type?

It depends on the device. Dark hair on fair skin responds best. Blonde, grey or red hair barely responds. At the first session the centre assesses your skin and tells you what result to expect and how many sessions you are likely to need.

How much does waxing hurt?

It stings, especially the first time and on the bikini line and underarms, but only for a few seconds. With regular sessions the hair grows back finer and it hurts less. Avoid the days just before your period, when skin is more sensitive.

Do hair removal centres treat men too?

Many do. Back, chest, shoulders, brows and legs are the most common. If a centre offers areas for men, you will see them in its list of services with their price and duration.
